Hi all, new to this forum, sorry if this thread has already been answered, but i could not find it.
I have a Roadpilot Pro that will not switch on. It is receving power and a couple of thin lines appear on the screen but it does not power up fully.
I would really appreciate if anyone can assit or point me in the right direction for help!
Just to let you know i have tried playing with the connections and plugging into the usb on the comp with no success!!! |

Simply sounds like a faulty screen. I bought one of these units a while back and it too had the odd spurious horizontal line on it although the panel was essentially working. I sent it back because the screen visibility was so poor in virtually any light condition I felt it was unuseable. I was very sorry about this because it had some good features.
Hope you get yours sorted.
Regards

I had one of those systems quite a while ago, and mine went a bit funny like that. From what I can remember, it was something to do with the apeture on the back of the unit becoming worn from use, so it didn't quite fit as well as it should have done onto the mount. That caused connection problems.
I seem to remember it working for a while if I pushed it onto the mount and kept applying pressure. Maybe you should look into packing the gap between the unit and the mount (if it's the same problem). I sent mine back for a repair though.
My experience of Road Pilot has been pretty poor to be honest - My RP Pro broke as above on several occasions, and the RP Micro I had also had some major problems when attempting to connect to a computer for update (had to send that back too). Their database isn't really up to a great standard any more either... The SPECS cameras on the A1 at Wetherby still haven't been added despite having been there for at least 9 months, even when I reported them myself.
Anyway, that's my rant over..! Hope the info helps a bit. |
