Streetpilot C550 at dead end?

Despite the known routing problems concerning rural roads, there isn't an update for the C550 since beginning of April.
I've seen on the Dutch Garmin site that somewhat the whole C series is out of production. So I guess the C550 is at a dead end, no?

I guess so
Although the C550 is still shown on the UK and US Garmins sites as current.

I bought mine in June 2006 from Maplins cost £479 today Maplins have them at £149.

Is this falling cost of progress, I still use (all the time) a Psion 3c vintage 1996 and still doing all I want.

Will my C550 being doing the same in 2016

I am getting to old to keep up and object to squandering my money.
