Trying to pair my BT359 GPS with my Dell Axim X51v via Bluetooth, and having a few issues.

I've set up the BT359 to use COM7 as the outgoing port, which appears to be fine. The problem occurs when I then go to the Dell "GPS" settings (as per the BT359 instuction manual).

The instructions say that you need to select "COM X" in the GPS setup page, then go to the "Hardware" tab and: 'select GPS Com port with baud rate 38400'.

This isn't very clear. I try to select "Com 7" in the Hardware tab, but it won't let me. So I select "Com 8". And I don't have an option to select 38400 baud- the nearest is 33600.

The outcome of all this is that Memory Map can't open GPS port. Can anyone help?

Ignore the DELL GPS settings, make sure that you AREN'T using this to manage the connection. I have never yet got reliable connections using this s/w. It does mean that you have to close the application using the GPS before you start any other application that wants to use it - but this is often not a bad idea anyway.

As long as you have created a new outgoing port on the BT set up (which you must have done to get COM7: assigned) then your application (MemoryMap) should be able to connect to COM7:.

Try at 4800bps first - this is the setting I use with my X51v with my BT GPS receivers (3 off).

You may have to do a soft reset to clear things out a bit.
