Hi! We see you’re using an ad-blocker. We’re fine with that and won’t stop you visiting the site.
But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!

Oh dear, I'd better start behaving then
If there is a serious demand for the new car stickers, then that would be a start in getting the 'brand' out in the wider public domain.
I notice that PGPSW has already subscribed to GoogleAds, but could it be worth revisiting this listing and keywords?
For example, the title for the Ad seems to be "Speed Camera Warnings" whilst 'Speed Camera Database' or 'Speed Camera Downloads' (or something else which I haven't thought of) may make the Ad appear more prominently higher up the list - I have never searched for 'speed camera warnings', but I could be more likely to search for one of the other examples I've given.
Could it be worth amending the target URL for the GoogleAd so that it's aimed at a page which lists the benefits of PGPSW vs A N Other:
comprehensive
compatible with all major GPS manufacturers
compiled from location submissions by users of all GPS
unparalleled support
stringent verification process
optional 'provisional' mobile warnings
regular competitions
members' discount
...this is just the start
Alternatively, make the "Why should I join" section of the subscriptions page more prominent and appealing to new members.
A separate "why should I join" / marketing page may appear less money-grabbing than sending somebody straight to the subscriptions page...sending people straight to the subscriptions page may be off-putting, whereas you could more prominently market the benefits of your database without additional cost on your very own website. _________________ Andy

Again from PGPSW's point of view printing tens of thousands of stickers isn't cheap.
Stickers are good for promotions and GPS fairs as a hand out - for promotions, but i'm not sure if they are actually any good in generating "new" work on a large enough scale.

Could help as little to no initial finance, but without being pessimistic this isn't going to strenghthen the Company books very much and although tweeking will help, trival in the big picture.
mostdom's ideas of attacking it from the "big boys" such as GPS Companies might have more success, i feel that the PGPSW flag needs to be waved to potential "buyers" at a point where they have got there new Sat Nav or speed camera locator and need to be made aware of - What is next?
The trouble here though is that some of the GPS Companies are waving there own flags, selling there own databases, even if they are expensive and useless.
Would these Companies allow a small PGPSW leaflet added to there box on manufacture, showing an alternative camera database?
If stickers are the main idea, maybe a simple "cheap as possible" sticker with just the website address on, (No Logo) stuck anywhere by existing members, might possibly get inquisitive new members, but i'm not sure of the legal side when stickers get stuck in the wrong places such as windscreens in a car park.
I said that i was only going to contribute when i had a sensible idea - now look what you have made me done. _________________ TomTom Go 60

I liked that idea too, it's fantastically targetted and the ones in the toilets are always read! The issue is cost, I made enquiries a while back and they wouldn't entertain small sample trials, it was all or nothing and that was very very expensive!

Well, that makes my 'sponsor Dennis' spoof sound feasible.
At those prices, you could BUY Dennis a new van, PAY him to drive it and have change left over (almost enough to buy a real satellite instead of a mock-up).
Now that Dennis is contemplating going multi-national, you'd be made _________________ Andy

The only problem I see with this is that the 'big boys' are selling their own databases and presumably making a substantial amount of money for an inferior product. All the time these guys are making money, they're unlikely to be willing to advertise an alternative.
This is why I thought a retailer might be in a position to slip a piece of paper into the packaging when goods are shipped and that was one of my first suggestions - it might be as close to mostdom's suggestion as the team could get. _________________ Andy

It was your "red rag" on the only two contributors that got me going, forgot to read the posts in depth before that. _________________ TomTom Go 60

Hi
Have you considered writing an article on why using Sat nav with upto date speed increases safety and driver awareness. You could submit this to trade magzines, all for motoring and business ( for transport FTA, RHA etc) if you include references to your service and how people can contribute. Its Free advertising
Also have you considered commercial use, offering businneses a monthly subscription that would allow them multiple users say batches of 10. I am sure some of the major logistis firms would welcome ways of avodinding known speed traps.

We have syndicated articles in the past and I'm trying hard to get us some coverage in the press right now. All coverage is good coverage

We already offer discounts for multiple licence usage although the take up hasn't been great.
What we need is some more TV Coverage, a few years ago when we were featured on Fifth Gear we had the biggest surge in visitors ever, so big that the servers fell over twice as soon as our database had a mention! The power of TV is rather impressive when you can witness the impact it has like that! _________________ Darren Griffin

It hasn't been made clear yet what your link with Subaru WRT is - but is there any scope for TV coverage there?
Jeremy Clarkson writes a column in one of the papers and I guess there must be contact details for this column somewhere, so would there be any scope to get the issue of speed cameras raised and the PGPSW database get slipped in there somewhere? _________________ Andy

Clarkson might be difficult because of hi high profile but his co presenter May writes in the motoring section of the weekend Telegraph, this could be more his subject. _________________ Dom
