Having acquired for the first time a PC with Bluetooth installed I thought I'd have a go at using my Bluetooth GPS receiver with Autoroute. However, after running the "Install GPS" option from the Autoroute CD then setting the COM port in the Tools-GPS-Configure GPS receiver dialog in Autoroute, every time I try to select the Tools-GPS-Track Position option I get an error message reading "PNAPI cannot be started correctly. Please check that it is installed correctly."

I have installed and run "GPS Utility" from www.gpsu.co.uk and checked that the PC is receiving data from the GPS receiver.

Curiously, when I set up a partnership between the PC and the Bluetooth GPS receiver I was told that COM3 was the "outgoing" port and COM4 was the "incoming". However, "GPS Utility" received a stream of data on COM3 but none on COM4.

Googling on "PNAPI" reveals remarkably few hits and no useful information that I can find.

Another curiosity is that the Windows\System32 directory on the PC contains a file PNAPINT.DLL with filelength 119,296 bytes and datestamp 30/9/96 whereas the equivalent file on the CD has the same filelength but a different date (6/11/99). I'm tempted to try renaming and replacing the version in the Windows directory, but I'm not confident about mucking about with Windows in this way!

Note: the PC has Windows Vista Home Premium installed.

Can anyone help, please?

Hugh
