I think we'll have to wait for confirmation from Darren as to the effect this change to subscription has had on membership, but the number of registered users on the Index page continues to rise.

Early indications show the change has not affected the numbers of users re-subscribing.

I think swanson2 has hit the nail on the head there. Thumbs Up

Perhaps the PGPSW team should make a short statement on the matter and then make no further comment?

This has been discussed to death and there really isn't anyone who comes up with anything new on the subject it's just going over the same old stuff. You are NEVER going to please all the people all of the time.

Quite right Skippy, either accept the T&C's or go without, simple innit.

I thought that was in the first post of this thread?
Surely if people want to discuss it to death, then that's their perrogative. Wink

Coupled with the fact that there was a distinct lack of input into the poll which Darren posted about a month before the changes were made, I think you could be right.

A total of 28 votes in the poll, from over 213,000 members

However, the ethos of the team is that everybody is entitled to their opinion and if the team were to do anything about this thread, I suspect that accusations would change from profiteering to being dictatorial.

here's what I said two days ago
Quote:
... on 28th August, Darren started a Sticky Poll on the question of where to go with subs. It currently shows a grand total of 25 votes! The change in subscriptions was not announced until three weeks after that poll.

Notice that the number of votes has now gone up to 28! Darren, if you're watching, it's overdue for locking that poll thread. I don't suppose it even had the 25 votes I quoted when the subs decision was taken, so the longer it remains open, the less relevant it will become.

Have just got my first update. Travelling to Dover via 303 and motorways, I kept getting odd speed limits pinging continuously in areas - 43 mph, 31 mph on roads with a 70mph limit. Same on the return journey - damned annoying!
Any bright ideas please?

Regards,

Dennis

Are you a Garmin user? You've omitted the step where you can choose KPH or MPH in POILoader. It defaults to KPH hence the issued you observed.

RE-install but ensure you choose MPH in POILoader.

While I can see the reasoning behind this from my own personal viewpoint it means I can no longer purchase your database.

I'm an expatriate and only visit the UK once a year maximum, the monthly option meant I could purchase the database as and when I need it. £19 for a few weeks use is enough to put me off buying it. A real shame as I think it's an excellent product.

Furthermore this decision might actually push less scrupulous people towards downloading dodgy versions rather than stemming the flow. I half considered it myself but decided that I don't support theft.

Netherlands as you'll be able to see from my IP address.

I don't use a car here as we cycle everywhere! That said I did manage to set off a speed indicating board on my pushbike in a 30kph limit, luckily we don't have plates on our bikes, not that I'm advocating speeding.

Sadly I hire cars in the UK and am a UK licence holder rather than driving a foreign reg'd car which is why I always used to download your database.

Perhaps you could make a monthly pay option available via direct bank transfer which would surely cut down on people abusing your copyright?

I'd love to carry on using the database maybe another idea would be 6 downloads with no time limit for the price of the yearly fee?
