Other than moral considerations, this would be a GREAT deterrent. You would only be giving their user ID and not naming them as such.

A much better idea than my embroidered mug Laughing Embarassed

I wasn't sure where best to post this, but I had an idea about speed camera verification -

I'm sure that there are members who wouldn't mind acting as verifiers and some who drive many miles throughout the year.

Could there be any benefit in doing something like a link to a 'camera verifier application' on the speed camera page?

I used to spend £4.99 a month on my Snooper S4Neo, £20 a year is a bargin for speed cameras on my tomtom.

I fully support making it annual only! Smile

We do have a dedicated bunch who do the verification. Currently we prefer to approach individuals in person if we have a gap in our coverage of an area and think someone has the necessary skills and time etc.

The current position has been explained by a verifier and I now have a better understanding.

What with this and my slip up with embroidered mugs, I've had a pretty poor day Rolling Eyes

Now that idea I like! Thumbs Up It wouldn't even have to be that uptodate.

It would all depend upon how much work would be involved in preparing a 'trial' database because it's hell's own job trying to keep track of things as it is.

Since MaFt is possibly the only person who knows exactly what is involved..

Just to make your day even more complete, gps_fan...
It was MaFt who suggested it! Razz

Don't let it worry you , I have days MUCH worse than that! Laughing

(and you've got your lifetime subs, so it's been a pretty good week really Thumbs Up )

...but have you never been in the position where it's not until you actually start doing a job that you realise just how much work is involved and jobs that always seem to take much longer than you think?

This happens to me all the time, especially with DIY Twisted Evil

I can't be doing with DIY. I mutter within hearing of Vera's son that I need shelves or whatever and he does them. He's like Volvo - where a nail would do, he uses screws, where screws or rivets would do, he uses bolts. And everything ends up straight and level and (best of all) finished, amazing. We were going to get a new shed, so I got out a screwdriver and claw hammer to start dismantling the old one and was going to take all day. Ian came over, picked up a 5ft crow bar (which I can hardly lift) and "dismantled" it faster than I could put it on the bonfire!!

Near where I work, there's a house which is being re-developed and we can see the garden.

Before planning permission was granted for work inside the house, they started work outside and it took some numpty almost a week to dismantle a shed - we kept laughing at the lack of progress because it was even painful watching.

Anyway, drifting back to the topic, the team need our support with trying to keep PGPSW working at its best in their spare time

I have to say, I agree with Rydell, aj and others. The other option is to revert to it being free.

It is a far different service from that which existed two years ago. Back then there was one database option and two types, tomTom or .csv. It is now compatible with many more devices and available in a range of variants. None of this would have happened if it had remained free, we feel that there is value in the service we offer, if you disagree as you are free to then fair enough.

It was free when i started using it some years ago, in fact in the early days i was happy to supply updated camera information myself.

We offered everyone who had contributed prior to the charge a lifetime subscription, did you receive the offer?

I think it is just a way to increase your revenues. I have never stolen from you, and neither have most people who use the database.
Up to now I just subscribed now and again and updated every few months.
I do not see it is worth £19 for the couple of times a year I need it..... so I might have to find a 12 year old who can explain torrent sites to me....... or get together with a few boys at work and form a syndicate. Though both of those options are probably more trouble than they are worth...... so goodbye to you.

Since everybody wants everything for free, it also clearly doesn't COST anything to keep this site running and all the services associated with with it - database updates, representation at GPS meetings, evaluation of new products etc etc etc.

Let's all go to the pub and ask for FREE drinks - I'm sure there would be a short, sharp response to that.

Do you get FREE food at the supermarket? No? I don't see why not - we have paid farming subsidies through our taxes so why does this differ from submitting camera updates? Then why complain that this service isn't free?

£19 is less than a third of the price of a speeding ticket Evil or Very Mad

I am truly amazed and appalled at some the responses here.

I keep having to remind myself that the people using the database are over 17 and not 7.
