|
|
Hi,
(As a newbie I apologize now if this has raised before and I just haven't found the answer using search.)
I've been using a GO 510 for a year with no problems at all, it hasn't even hung once!
A few days ago I loaded two extra colour schemes via the TT Home software and also added the supermarkets POI files from tomtomfree.com
Today I've noticed that my local fuel stations are out of position, in fact most of the ones I know of appear to have moved. Not a problem for the ones I know but a real pain when you're low and trying to find one that's not in the cul-de-sac TT says it is.
Eg. TT says Texaco stn in Balsall Common (UK) is down a side road at N52º23'52" W1º39'10" when in reality it is at N52º23'57" W1º39'18" which is 300 yds away. I'm sure it was spot on before and everything else (cash points etc) appears okay.
I've deleted and reinstalled an older backup but still no joy. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards.

Are you using the built in Petrol Station POI?
In which case you're finding out what a lot of TeleAtlas Map Users have long found out.
Use the POIs from here. They get better every day. _________________ Richard

Hi,
(Erm) I guess I am using the built in fuel station POI.
Strange thing is I am convinced it was spot on before, perhaps I'm becoming delusional...
From the Lat/Long I've shown, what does anyone else get?
Also, looks like I'll be updating with the POI's from here.
As a newbie, a little pointer to where here is would be ever so helpful.
Thanks so far.

I think you must be remembering wrong (or were just lucky!). The TomTom-supplied Petrol station POIs are notoriously inaccurate, both in position and number that are missing. The entries were placed just by the postcode data rather than actually checking the position for real.
The link to the PGPSWorld POI section can be found in the boxes on the left-hand edge of this page (and every other page of this site)... 7th box down, headed "GPS Central", down the bottom "Points of Interest". You want "Download POIs" |

Hmm, the combination of me being lucky and remembering something correctly are so remote...
Thanks for the info on where to find the POIs, I was looking for an Emoticon that could accurately represent slapping my forehead and muttering "muppet"
Crossing my legs and fingers I'll have a go with the POI file.
Thanks all again, very much appreciated.
