720 ans SMS feature

I have just got a 720 and apart from the Handsfree I like it a lot - it's not perfect, but I give it a 8/10.

I have a Nokia E61 and the SMS feature does not work with this phone. I notice from TomTom though that many other Nokias DO work with the SMS send/receive.

Is this because of the operating system on the phone? I was expecting that all Nokias would work with SMS - as several of them do.

Many Nokia phones are not FULLY compatible. I had a Nokia 6680, which I could make handsfree calls with, using my 710 and could send a text message, but could not transfer the phone book, or receive a text.

I now have a 6300 and it transfers the phone book and can send texts and make calls, but still cannot receive texts via the 710.

It does seem strange that some Nokias have more functionality than others. I don't know of any which can receive texts via the Tom Tom device, but I'm sure someone will tell us if there is one.

I believe the 6230 (and i variant) are fully compatible. My daughter has mine at the moment, so I can't be sure.

My 6230i is fully compatible. The nice lady even offered to read a SMS to me today. I have all the functions - phonebook, messages in and out, recently dialled and recent callers (although these last two are not much use at times, like when I've made and received calls whilst not connected to my GO720).
