Are you telling us that there is an updated firmware released for the 720? |

I connected to home and it gave me the option of an application update (see below) which I did and wish I had not. My Nokia N95 was working for data which it still does but now can’t make hands free calls. Tom Tom basically said to me bad luck we don’t list the phone so we can’t help. It is such a shame that a great product has awful customer services. Did not want to help at all even when I explained I had checked the phone out before buying 720 and the two things I want worked. Down loaded this update and now it states this feature is not supported.
So if anyone can send me the original application file, program what ever it is I may be able to get phone working again if not I’ll be sending it back and sticking with the 500.
Type: Program
Name: TomTom Application for GO520, GO720
ID: Navigator
Version: 7.000
Size: 23.8 MB
File: C:\Users\REMOVED\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\navcore_7.00.8286.gox20.cab
Description: The latest version of the application for your TomTom device. We recommend that you update so that you always have the latest features and the best performance on your TomTom. For a list of changes made in this application, see www.tomtom.com/6141 Note: If your TomTom or TomTom application has been adapted by your employer, IT administrator or any company other than TomTom, please check with the supplier before you install our latest application. This applies to any applications based on the TomTom SDK.

Sorry to hear of your problem, I've connected my unit to the web via the home app as of now and according to what I see there is no updated firmware. I'm still on version 7.000 which is the original one the unit shipped with.
Having had a read of this page here www.tomtom.com/6141 I note that the go 520 and 720 models are not listed which supports the theory that there is as of yet no new firmware for it. |

That page from tomtom.com is not reliable, my GO 510 has been running version 6.525 since 28/4/07 even though version 6.524 is the most recent version mentioned for the 510 on that page. |

Oh dear - are you saying you didn't take a copy backup when you first got it? That was the first thing I did with mine out of the box - I don't think I even gave it chance to ask me what language or anything.
I have that download too, but to be honest, I don't know whether I've installed it - I'm so wary of TT that even though it's there, I may not have installed it.
When I look at HOME, I can see in the middle (downloaded) ...
TT Application for GO520, GO720, 23.8Mb. When I hover cursor over it, it says the same, plus version: 7.000.
On the 720 I see ...
TT Application for GO520, GO720, 11.7Mb. When I hover cursor over it, it says Application for GO, ONE and Rider version: 7.000, 11.7Mb.
That's half the size.
You've got me worried. _________________ Dennis

The one he has downloaded is a different point release 7.00.8286 to the one in your sig. 7.000 8280
Perhaps they shipped with 8280 and the 8286 is a minor "upgrade" |

I have App 7.000 (8286/070629) OS:2614
Edited to add and Boot 5.4057 _________________ Dennis

Would that be a TT Home backup, or Win Explorer? _________________ Dennis

Dennis,
On double checking the above, you're spot on, mine is identical also. Is this a firmware update? I've saw no 'there is a new firmware available for download' message via the home app. What gives? |

How would I know? - I'm just a gullible old man. You (and I) must have agreed to the download at some stage and it obviously jumped in there and updated us. I'd wring its neck for doing that if I could - I hate things that do things without permission (like uncle Bill Gates for one). Trouble is (for poor Outlander) that I for one have no idea what part of the original backup is the system stuff to get back to his original status - there's no sort of "dotheTTbit.exe" file is there? I have to simply feel grateful that I can find nothing wrong yet (sez he after a day of crash, lockup, lost voices, clagging up the MP3s and so forth!!). _________________ Dennis

Dennis I made a back up on both just in case. OK so how do I get it back to the original, as the backups aren’t working. |

Dennis as I said I backed with both win explorer and home. Yes I cut and past from win e but still no joy. I deleted the application from 720 and then used back up still not working. |
