Does anyone know if Tomtom Navigator 5 on an XDA Orbit will still run after upgrading to Windows mobile 6???
Don't want to take the free upgrade to WM6 for my XDA Orbit if the cost is to lose my tomtom.
Cheers in-advance for your replies. |

Devices running WM6 are not officially supported, that said there are a number of forum members who do have it working, there is an issue with activation on some WM6 devices where the code can change each time you reset the device. Unless you really need WM6 I would say leave it alone, there is very little new when using WM6 from what I have tried - Mike |

Don't know about TomTom V5 but I have TomTom V6.010 (7720) maps of Western Europe v652.1185 running on my O2 XDA Orbit which came with Windows Mobile 6 already on it. _________________ Graham.

Just thought that I would update this thread in case it helps others.
After what seemed like weeks of resisting the WM6 upgrade I finally gave in...............................and went for it.
The swap over to WM6 was painless, just download the upgrade, back up all of your info, ensure PDA is fully charged and connect to a pc that will not go into hibernation after 2 mins. Ensure you are running the latest active-sync too.
The walk through screens are dead easy, there is nothing taxing what so ever.
At the end of it everything was fine and dandy, all info on my SD card was still in place but all personal info on the phone had gone.
From what I can see WM6 will make your Orbit run a tad faster and slicker. Had no problems what so ever and am now running tomtom nav 6. |

Previously I was using TT V3 on a XDA II, then upgraded the TT to V6, then upgraded the device to a XDA Orbit with TT V6, so never used or owned TT V5, all I can suggest is to upgrade your TT to V6.
Or continue using your old Orbit with TT V5 and wait for TT to release the latest V7 for the PPC when ever that might be. _________________ Graham.

It should work on the Orbit try copying the CAB installer to the device and run that on the device to install the application (there are a number of other files required over and above the exe) - I would start by making sure you have version 5,21 which was the last release of TTN5 code - Mike |

Cheers guys,
Using the old XDA is totally out of the question, its as flat as a pancake, run over by a Shogun after it fell out of my pocket on my bike.
Will try to install as much as the software on the device and see what happens, failing that, I have been toying with the idear of an upgrade to TT6 ...

Looks like an upgrade to TT6 is in order, so long as im not gonna get any more trouble from it ???
Can I get a direct download from TomTom or do I need to purchase the DVD / SD Card version ??? |

Have you tried putting the CAB file on the PDA phone then running it using File Explorer to install the application?? - Mike |
