Not etched, just written in that security pen that only shows up under ultra-violet light, then the riff-raff in the back can't see my secret phrase book..
Ever been in the back seat Dennis ?

And the box in the back was so heavy it took four of us to manhandle it in and I didn't fancy having it join me in the front. Honest guv. He only saw a whitevanman, not a lovely old pensioner who is kind to children and having blued me, had to follow up on it. Honest guv. _________________ Dennis

I don't make a habit of targetting whitevanman, however I was forced to speak to one today. A BT Openreach engineer, talking on his mobile, whilst driving....
You must understand Dennis, I had to do my duty.
Contrary to what Bob Hoskins used to say in the BT adverts.....IT ISN'T ALWAYS "GOOD TO TALK" _________________ Tommo...

I hope you gave him the full treatment, at least £60 and three points. BT vans (are NOT whitevanmans) are a plague upon the face of the earth, worse than black VW Golfs. PLEASE tell me you did him the full business. And talking on a hand held phone whilst driving is more than wrong. _________________ Dennis

Yes...he got it good and proper, it's one law that I agree wholeheartedly with.
The worst thing was that BT provide him with a phone for work, with a hands free cradle, but he decided to make a call using his private phone.
Silly Man..

It's a pity that you can't confiscate the phone of offenders as is done with vehicles for other offences. I live on the A27 with a 30mph limit, watching the traffic passing from my 1st floor flat I see up to 20 a day driving past with a mobile glued to their ear, eating a sandwich or drinking. _________________ Graham.

If you use something in the commission of a crime, the something can be taken away from you - car, garage, house, computer, phone, whatever. It's just not been done yet. Might stop a few more doing it - not the cost of replacing the phone, the loss of all the phone numbers in the memory. _________________ Dennis

Most of the A27 that I know, the speed limit doesn't mean anything because traffic is so heavy that it's just about stationary...not that this means making a phone call is any different - quite the opposite I would have thought because so many accidents happen as people lose concentration in traffic jams
ps I presume your 1st floor flat is next to the A27, not actually on it _________________ Andy

I just can't understand how people can do it. I've been in the whitevanning business for over 8 years now and the very first time I tried to carry on a phone call whilst driving I knew I couldn't possibly be in proper control of the vehicle at the same time. So one of my first expenses was a hands free doings and I've been on hands free ever since. No-Brainer. Oh, and I ignore people who text me (I sometimes reply by just pressing random keys!) and I have voice mail switched off
BUT - Tommo - I don't like to see police TV when THEY do it. And whilst you're at it, could you get onto Avon & Somerset helicopter and tell them I swear I don't have a house full of drugs, illegal immigrants, smuggled booze or ladies of ill repute and would they mind going and hovering above the house across the street which does, not above mine - the racket is sending me round the bend!! _________________ Dennis

I've never seen a mobile eating a sandwich or drinking. That must be illegal, I'll look it up..

We actually can, as DennisN says, however in the case of a mobile phone, we generally don't. However if we stop someone for this offence and they disagree or won't provide details of the phone, we WILL confiscate it and have it analysed. They can get it back after the trial.

I've just checked the intelligence system and it says you do Dennis. Thou doth protesteth too much. According to our records, you drive all these about in a Renault van with several devices suction mounted to your screen, whilst texting random letters on your mobile with one hand. _________________ Tommo...

Is this an officer of the law showing favouritism? While you're at it, could you wipe ALL our slates clean...nothing worse than an itchy back _________________ Andy
