HI, purchased a Toshiba 4GB SDHC memory card so l could install additional items if needed.
Reinslalled onto the card from my backup folder with no problems.
BUT my GO 300 just will not read the card when installed .
Has anyone used this card successfully? Thanks for your replies.

Only a few very recent devices are SDHC compatible. The GO300 is not (nor are the very latest x20's) and so the SDHC card you have is not compatible.

SDHC cards can only be read by devices that have an SDHC logo or are explicitly designed with SDHC compatibility.

You're not the only one, if you look back through a few posts in the index there are several about these 4GB cards.

Will the shop not swap it for a non-SDHC one?
Do a search for "4GB" to find the names of a couple of brands that work.

I read that a 4GB Transcend 150X Secure Digital Card works, I ordered one from here.

Hi Darren,

I bought a couple of 4gb Sandisk SDHC with the intention of using them in my Ipaq HX4700 before realising that they wouldn't be compatible. However my TomTom 720 arrived yesterday so imagine my delight when the cards actually worked in it :-). Have merrily copied over a number of mp3 files and a map and the 720 sees them without any issues. So it could be that only certain sdhc cards will work in x20 series but Sandisk 4gb appear too so it's not a complete no no. Pity it doesn't capture this is any of the TomTom literature or if it does I haven't looked properly.

Cheers

Bal

my SDHC were Class 2. So maybe that also determines whether SDHC works or not.

Cheers

Sorry, should have made it clearer.
The SD slot for ALL TomToms previous to the x20 range is unable to use SDHC technology cards. There are a couple of 4GB non-SDHC cards available, one of which is the one in that link.

As for the x20 range, it was assumed that they couldn't accept SDHC either, but bg's post from earlier today reports at least one card that seems to work.

Currently only the x20's (520 & 720) have limited SDHC support. The ONE 2nd Edition does not and cannot use SDHC cards of any type.

It's a grey area, although the x20's don't support SDHC, some cards are reported to work, all of these seem to be no larger than 4GB. My 8GB Class 6 card does not work.
