guys,

I have been having probs with my receiver for a while now, it's a TT wireless GPS MK2, you know the original one that came with the TT navigator 5 kit I bought a couple of years ago, I have probs charging it, keeping it's charge etc, now to cut to the chase, can it be fixed?? can the battery be changed?? and finally, does anyone know where or who could do this for me please???

thanks for any info, best regards, Mark

oh btw, if it cant be fixed, any thoughts on a replacement unit, that is compatable with what kit I already have, or should I get a newun of what I have, receiver wise???

The battery can theoretically be replaced but it may now be hard to get. It is probably cheaper if you get a newer BT GPS receiver with a better chipset and a replaceable battery. Take one with a Nokia style battery - those will be easier to source. Any receiver will work.

Lutz, many thanks for your reply, very much appreciated, now I can use my sat nav, but have no idea when it comes to what chip set etc to look for, obviously if my receiver is beyond economical repair, a new one it will be, but any recommendations of any particular models please?? i'm thick as two short planks and would rather be guided to a certain extent, rather than buying what I think is right, which means probably it wont be!! many thanks again

Try the BT338

See here for instance:
http://www.easydevices.co.uk/pp/GPS_Receivers/Bluetooth_GPS/GLOBALSAT_BT338_SIRF_STAR_III_BLUETOOTH_GPS_RECEIVER.html

If my TT GPSII unit packs up - this would be the sort of thing I would go for.
