Just bought a TomTom one v4. I turned it on and it worked fine until I plugged it into the TomTom home program that came with the unit. After I installed the disk and the update I plugged in the unit. It recognized it initially, but said that another component was required to use the "My One" function. Once I clicked "download component" it showed that the component was downloaded and I got an error that said I couldn't establish a e___ folder. I don't remember exactly the folder, but after I hit OK TomTom home no longer recognized my unit. Now when I turn it on I get a picture of the unit and a flashing "X". Help! This is my first GPS. It's really frustrating. I feel as if I should not have even plugged it into my computer. It worked fine before I did. Evil or Very Mad

I have no idea about what the error message might be, but have you tried a Reset, in the bottom of the Device. Hold it in for about 30 secs.

Did you have time to do a Full Backup, before you did anything else?

Can you see the Device, with Windows Explorer, as an extra Drive?

When it is using either Explorer or HOME, you have to use Safely Remove Hardware. In Explorer, in the Sys Tray, and with HOME it's the My Device Icon.

thanks for the help, but my wife took it back and got me a Garmin nuvi 350. In my opinion, some of the features on the TT1 are better, but as are some of the features of the nuvi 350. The guy at the store said it sounds like I incorrectly registered my TT1 and it got messed up when I synced up. Now I'm scared to sync up my nuvi 350.

Well that's a new one. Smile

With TT you're either Registered and Logged in, or not!
