Can someone please explain why out of my POI only speed cameras show up as black square's and how do I solve this problem. Also I've never actually passed any speed camera location while driving (only when searching for nearest sites) so could you explain the procedure or the full instructions eg the lady instructing you says blar blar blar.If you put your I3 on show map without planning a route do you still get warned of all camera's or in navigation mode ?

re the bitmap - you need a new one that works! open up the one you have then resave it as a 8-bit bitmap.

never passed a speed cam? lucky you!! we have over 700 here in west yorkshire...

in 'view map' mode you will get warned of speed camera's as well as in navigation mode. you get an initial 'bong bong' and a red bar at the top stating 'speed limit 30mph ahead' then if you are going over the limit the icon shows up and you get continuous bong bongs - if you slow down then the bonging stops and the icon vanishes.

Cheers MaFt for your reply.

I'll be testing the new system out on Saturday when I go to Elland Road as I know that there are at least 5 camera sites between there and Sherburn and back. I was going to take my I3 with me to Ipswich last night but the driver had a Speed Camera device already. Could have put them side by side on the windscreen but that would've been very annoying.

Cheers again.

while on this thread can someone help with this problem please.
Duly bought spiii at Somerffields, updated to v2.7.
dowmloded the barmin web updter, the POI loader and the Speed camera files.
All OK, fantastic. Red bar at top of screen .

Ac ouple of days later, perhaps less or more. They have all gone?
Any clues ?
I have uploaded them again and it says 7862 files uploaded to spiii, but still not seen
Have tried a simulted drive through a local area where I know there are cameras and that where picked up before

do they show up in 'where to' / 'food hotels & more' / 'custom points' ?

if so then try actually driving rather than simulating!

Thanks MaFt
never thought of that, thanks.
However they ARE showing there .........food hotels etc.
I only mentioned the simulated as having been 'out' on the road this morning and still not seeing any cameras on the screen where there were some before, I since updated them again to see if they were on the simulation, but they were not.

In summary,
I have seen them before on my spiii (is that correct abreviation) but driving the same route since (A127 where I think they BREED the speed cameras) they are not there on the screen now.
Could I in advertently turned them off in tinkinkering?

Unless you've stripped the speed data from the CSV files and installed them manually (do a search), then the cameras will only appear and you'll only get the warning if you're exceeding the speed limit as you approach.

Ian, have you got proximity alerts turned on?

If you haven't turn it on and try again.

It's in the settings menu somewhere.

Nick.

Nick
yes I have them turned on.
however, I cannot remember if they were on when driving, as I have been playing around with it at home since - particularly the simulation.
If it does , NOT show the speed cameras unless exceeding the limit coming up to them as suggested above, then I am hoping that's the solution.

This was a problem fixed in the latest update of the POI Loader app from Garmin - the old version didn't transfer mono bitmaps correctly.
