With camera vans now being able to put themselves anywhere:
http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/driving/article1801199.ece
doesn't this mean that a database of potential locations is no longer an effective way to address camera vans (although still useful for fixed cameras)?

I see that the new Road Angel Navigator 9000 effectively allows users to share information about where the 'live' vans are in real time via GPRS.

Surely this has to be the way forward?

Does anyone know of other manufacturers doing the same thing (or looking to) as other devices in the Navigator series get pretty ropey reviews their usability etc?

They still have to select sites based on accessibility, safety and other factors so they can't literally place them anywhere.

Well, considering that speed cameras haven't improved road safety I can't see that this statement makes sense. I think what they meant to say is "if it makes loadsa money".
