Any help gratefully received.
HP 2210 -PC2003 - TOM TOM 2 - Checkpoint 2
The TOM TOM software works fine. No problem.
Unfortunately, and I wont' waste your time explaining why, I tried to install Checkpoint ,without removing the first installation.(I'm an idiot). The program screen now has two checkpoint icons, neither of which can be removed, even by a hard reset. A hard reset will remove them, but when Checkpoint is re-installed, they both appear. I can' uninstall by using 'remove program' or by 'stop all'. As far as I can tell the Checkpoint software is working, I can use the general settings, international settings etc, and hitting either Checkpoint Icon, will load Tom TOM.
Is it correct to have a red circle/ exclamation mark through the centre of the icons, and at the bottom of the screen.
I suspect that there is a registry error, but surely a hard reset should reinstate all defaults. Editing the registry is difficult, I do have a registry editor, but am not sure of the processor type. Any clear, and very simple instructions, would be gratefully received.

processor type is PXA/ARM.
If the two icons is all that bothers you then you can also clean them out with the file explorer that is part of ActiveStink (the file explorer on the PDA ingeniously hides most files and extensions from you)
Search the \windows\start menu\programs folder for the icons/shortcuts, delete them, then go to the folder where checkpoint is installed, copy the the program, go back to the start menu folder, and paste a shortcut. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for your help.
I fixed the problem, it appears that the Ipaq 2210 requires three buttons to be pressed and held at the same time to start a Hard Reset.
I'm new to Ipaq's , is this normal ?
The Calendar (1st Button) left to right ,and the Itask (4 button) and the soft reset button on the back, must be pressed and held for at least 5 seconds, any shorter time produces a soft reset.
I'm off now to test Checkpoint, thanks

It's normal to make a hard reset deliberately difficult (and ideally to require two hands). The method you describe is that used on pretty much every iPAQ since the 3800 series.
Depending on your use, you may find yourself soft resetting your Pocket PC (which is equivalent to rebooting your PC) several times a week. Hard resets (equivalent to reformatting and reinstalling Windows on your PC) are much rarer, one hopes, though one or two when you're getting used to your new PDA isn't that unusual.
