I navigated home today, and only when I got home did I notice that instead of being in its usual position on the dash, my 210 receiver was down in passenger side footwell where I had concealed it when parked. I was amazed that it could see any satellites from there, but it seemed perfectly accurate all the way home!

You must have had a lucky moment at the start of your journey when the receiver was able to acquire a fix. Holding on to a fix requires much less signal level than locking in for the first time. A number of people have successfully use the receiver in the glove compartment, but most of the time only after it got a fix "in the wild".
