Hi all,

I've done a couple of searches but can't find anyone who's had the exact same problem. I received my 910 today in the post, opened the box, charged it for an hour an a half then tried to turn it on. The green light has been on when charging, but the unit doesn't respond when I press the power on button.

If I remove the unit from the USB cradle the green light goes out and will not come on again even if I try to power on. I've tried resetting before and after pressing the power on button but it makes no difference.

The only signal that the unit isn't completely dead is a slight hum from the back of the case after pressing the power button, but the LED and screen remain completely dead.

I've emailed Tomtom and will wait for a response but thought someone here may know what's going on. Do I need to charge it for a few more hours or should I get it back in the post?

Thanks for any help,

Ali

The green LED is NOT a "power on" indication. It just means that external power is available and the unit is charging. If you switch a TomTom on without any external power supply, the led does NOT come on.

Your symptoms are exactly what you get if the unit needs a reset. Are you SURE you are using a thin enough pin to press the reset button (and are sticking it in the right hole)?

(Thanks to yourNav forum for the pic)
You should feel a slight click when you press it, hold it pressed for 30 seconds, then hold the power on switch for ten. Give it at least a minute to power up after a reset like this.

Thanks for the info Andy. I've now tried that, charged it for 12 hrs and tried every imaginable combination of timings for resetting and pwering on! It still makes a whirring sound when it's powered on but the screen doesn't come on at all, or even appear to have any charge going through it. Looks like it's go back to TT.

Thanks,

Ali

Try connecting te cradle to the PC and switch on the 910 does the PC show any connection to the TomTom, have a look in Windows Explorer it should appear as a new drive, if it does click the drive and are the contents displayed?
It does sound like its dead on arrival though - Mike
