That's OK Anita (makes gently consoling pat on hand) - I left two years before you with six O levels, including maths, in which my Maths mistress (falsely, but quite understandably) accused me of cheating. I progressed to Brylcreem boy, then Labour Exchange staff, Underwear manufacture and finally Local Government mandarin. So my true expertise lies in passing bylaws regulating the employment of hair gel where the sun don't shine. I have to confess the mathematical brilliance is down to Lotus 123 set to 10 decimal places, coupled with Ctrl C and Ctrl V to avoid typos. _________________ Dennis

That depends very much upon where you buy your petrol - it varies from 93.9p/l to 98.9p/l on my journey to work and the price seems to change every day.
Please re-calculate your figures Dennis to 10 decimal places for each petrol station...that should at least take your mind off your broken passenger window

After all, judging from your signature, you're far better educated than I am. |

What I should have written was Quote: | Or put it another way, approximately 1.2315789474 litres of petrol a month, based on a price of 95.9 pence per litre. | I'm so sorry to have ignored the site's abhorrence of imprecision. if you read one of the other threads you'll see that he just stole it from somewhere to make himself look clever when in fact the only GCE he got was in Washing Up...

PS - he's also daft enough to get his van broken into by leaving the windscreen mounts attached - so i wouldn't applaud his brilliance just yet ;) |

I'm surprised they didn't knick his van and leave the GPS mount behind!
I used to work with a guy who locked his bike up...and when he went back, his bike was still there but the lock had been knicked _________________ Andy

Aaaargh! Exposed for the charlatan I am. Remember, I put it down to age (and the inability to include credits to where I nicked the picture from in the signature box).
And I wasn't daft - I always considered myself safe because I live opposite the local crim family. Whilst the policeman was here taking my details (he actually came across to deal with me after calling in to serve a warrant on one of them!!!), one of the crims came across and said he saw it happening at 1:30am, but didn't come to tell me because it was late (I put it down to my age)! He also gave the policeman a description of the perpetrators, not matching himself, so you see my trust was soundly based - just must be more than one crim around here.
On a trip to France a couple of weeks ago, my daughter parked her Galaxy in a multi storey car park all night and day, having hidden her GO under the driver's seat and came back next day to find she'd left the passenger window wide open and the GO still there. Vive la difference!! _________________ Dennis

Could this be the kind of thing that Tony Blair was banging on about with his achievements on crime etc over the past 10 years??
It just goes to show what kind of country we're living in _________________ Andy

Growing, Old and Gracefully. Incidentally, I got another whilst I was a Brylcreem boy - General Paper (although I was only a Corporal at the time!) and two more when I was a Mandarin - Sociology (that was easy, you just have to write looney lefty stuff about equality for women ) and Dementia (so easy that I've forgotten what I wrote). _________________ Dennis

Sorry, we have run adrift a little.
Where should you draw the line though and who should call a halt to going off topic?
A dumb question, I know but this banter hasn't been without a little humour from at least one member of the PGPSW team _________________ Andy

The line is of course arbitrary but at the end of the day it's a judgement call and I've made it _________________ Darren Griffin |

I sent a report of a new camera position when I read of it being granted planning permission and it did not seem to qualify for membership! |
