|
|
I regularly travel a well-known route, and have no real need of the vocie directions, and so I turn the volume down.
Unfortunately, that also turns the volume of the speed camera warning tones down as well, and as there are a lot of speed cameras on the route, the warning tones are very useful indeed.
Short of deleting the voices in total (and I do need voice directions on other journeys), does anyone know whether it is possible to configure the TT1 to provide warning alarms of speed cameras with the volume of the voice directions turned down? |

You can't have two volumes.
But what you CAN do is have a "Silent" voice for the navigation - that way you get NOTHING for directions, but still get the noisy warnings for cameras.
Silent voice download from here. Then you change voice to the silent one. If you later need to get navigation instructions, change voice back to whoever.
(I have two Tom Toms, one for navigating and one for warnings and the warnings one has got the silent voice). _________________ Dennis

Not possible to run with two different levels of volume without some serious amount of work on the PC, the easy option is to download and install a silent navigation voice which can be found Here then select this voice when you want to run silent but with Speed Camera warnings - Mike |

Well done, the difference being you CAN have two volume levels by taking appart the nav voice on the PC and lowering the volume before creating the actual sound file that goes on the TomTom - but it is not really easy to do, possible but a few hours work to be honest - otherwise the posts look nigh on identical to me - Mike |

For which I thank my lucky stars - that was the first thing I checked when I saw yours, just in case I'd got egg on my face.
Oh, and when you say ".. you CAN have two volume levels ..." speak for yourself!! Some of us older members wouldn't have a clue AND need the volume on high (or highest) anyway. :D _________________ Dennis

AAAAaaaaahhhhhh - Thanks, people. I just knew there'd be someone out there with a workaround.
The 'silent voice' is a great option, and I have now downloaded and installed it.
Many thanks. Safe motoring.
Best regards

Are you using the PGPSW speed cameras? If so, why can't you just set them up to 'Warn When Near POI' and untick the box that says 'Only warn if on route'.
Then you don't even need a route to be plotted, so no voices, but it still warns you when you approach the cameras.
Presumably that's what you want - i.e. you don't need a route plotted at all because you know it well already, but you still want speed camera warnings?
Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick here! Seems too obvious, so possibly I've missed the point somewhere?! |

Great suggestion Just one minor thought that you'd then get all the cameras off route too and in some areas that might drive you up the wall? But still a damned good suggestion - it never crossed my mind because I always warn only on route. _________________ Dennis

No it is a male silent voice.
You can actually still hear the female 'silent' voice, so it is not truly silent. 8O _________________ Richard

I guess that could be a problem. Although that's how I use it and it's never really caused me any problems, I do get the occassional warning of a camera that's in a side street that I'm going past, or on a roundabout that's overhead as I'm going under a bridge, but it's certainly not that bad. I guess it also depends on what kind of distance you've got your warnings set up for as to how many 'rouge' warnings you'll get. |

Quickly looks that up.
Ejemplos:
* "Vista ciega, luz oscura, / gloria triste, vida muerta" Rodrigo Cota |
