I've got a TomTom One II Europe. I didn't notice it at first but when the directions gets spoken there's a clicking sound at the start of the sample playback.

Sounds like the soundfile is damaged, but I'm quite sure they are not. The clicking sound doesn't get affected by the volume I set, it's the same sound level always.

I downloaded a "silent" voice(http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/voiceskins.html) to only get speed camera warnings but the clicking is getting on my nervers.

I've tried the TomTom support but they apparently didn't read my question because they only sent me a url to how to install new voices.. ;(

Any ideas?

Sincerely
LarsErik

Ps. Sorry about the bad english.

I have a theory that they never read the first question - I guess they have a machine (maybe even a computer!!) which "reads" all the stuff and recognises key words. Because you said "voice" or "sound" or "spoken" it clicked on "Send this customer Standard Answer number 43". You should now send a further reply to the standard answer, saying it didn't solve the problem. Try saying something totally unintelligent, like "It clicks" - don't mention sound, or voice or speech or anything which the machine can tie into its database of key words. Who knows - you might even get a proper reply!!!

More information:

in the settings when switching over to a new voice pressing the test button the "click" sound doesn't appear the first time pressing the "test" button. However pressing the "test" button again the click appears.

I am sorry, LarsErik, but I cannot help you in this. I have never known this problem. I hope somebody else will see this post soon and give you an answer.

If nobody here can help, you can only go to Tom Tom - perhaps you can telephone them to discuss it, because written messages are often not good enough to explain it properly.

PS Your English is better than any of the languages I try to speak. Congratulations.

Which voice are you using? A 'standard' TomTom voice or a 3rd party add-on?

It's the same for all voices. I've sent my TomTom to be service now.

Just a thought LarsErik - are you using the voices in your own language? If yes, have you tried an English voice - it might be that all your own language voices are faulty on all Tom Toms?

Is there some way I could downgrade to the previous flash version of TomTom?

Perhaps, but it's outside my knowledge. I am surprised that someone with experience of the TT One hasn't found this thread to offer help. I think perhaps you should try starting a new thread with the title "Please help me put my TT ONE back to working". Then somebody clever is sure to see and come helping.

I am no electrician/electronic expert but it sounds as though it could be some electrical interference from something near to the TT if this is the 2nd unit with the same problem. It could be coincidental and it might be that you have a second faulty unit.

If it is electrical it might be something in a docking station, power supply, bluetooth connection - something close that is causing interference. Have you tried the unit in someone else's car or in your garden away from other electrical sources?

I have owned a Tomtom one since christmas and can't work out what Lars problem might be..I have never experienced this clicking sound and I have friends who have tomtoms who never have either...

Surely both units can't be faulty, I think it may be a setting somewhere that Lars is using on his Tomtom...

Yes, i'm also supecting some kind of software/setting problem now that I got the damn click-sound on the new one I recieved from TomTom Service.

This is what I've tried sofar:

1. Removing and reinstalling the TomTom program (version 6.560).
2. Removing the voices and installing, both fresh from the internet and using the voices from the bundled CD.
3. Switched the SD-card to a new bigger one with more free space.

Trying to google about these problems and there seems to be a simular problem for some people using tomtom on a cell phone. They people at that forum where supecting a sound driver fault, since the click appears each time the sound device starts sample playback. I'm a software developer myself (since 10 years back now) so I do have quite a large amout of experience of things like that and I must say it does sound like quite likely. However, I can't understand why only I would get this in that case. If there's some fault all TomTom One users would notice this quite easially.

And I can asure you, all TomTom software and maps are legit. I've bought the Trafic, Speed cameras and the voice of John Cleese.

Sincerely
LarsErik

PS. Sorry my bad english, and for loosing my temper back there.

Hi, as it turns out I've tried two different TomTom ones (since I got my unit replaced) in all kind of places. The only way not to get the clicking noise is to run the "simulation" in TomTom home. That's why I suspected a hardware problem in the first place because when running the One with TomTom Home the sound comes from my computers soundcard not from the built in speaker of the One.

Sincerely
LarsErik
