I haven't used my Tom Tom 910 since last summer, so today I got it out and downloaded and installed the latest camera database ready for a trip at the end of the month. I followed the instructions on this website at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras-tomtom-go-910.php

I reached the point where I had to disconnect the unit from the PC and tried to use the touch screen. It shows the picture of itself but will not respond to touch. I tried to switch the unit off and on again, but the on off button doesn't work.

So I turned it over and pressed the reset button using a straightened paper clip, but even this had no effect. The detached unit is sitting on my desk now, defiantly on and refusing to react to any input.

What can I do to get it back when even the reset fails to work? Just leave until the internal battery runs flat?

Try pressing the reset switch using a pin or needle, I often find paper clips are too larger diameter to actually depress the switch, can you feel the reset sitch moving when you apply pressure to it? - Mike

Thanks for the swift reply.

No movement felt so perhaps the paper clip is too large. However, after a while the unit decided to turn itself off. I since turned it back on again it has behaved itself so I was able to complete set up of the cameras including customised voice warnings.

BTW what does tba mean in terms of camera databases?

to be advised - in other words we don't know the speed of the camera but it is a known location with a known camera type, over time these will hopefully reduce -
glad to hear its working (now find a large safety pin and keep it in the car - just in case the unit decides to play silly again) - Mike

To Be Announced, there is definatly a mobile camera there, as and when they decide to park there, but they don't know what the speed limit is. If you pass one with no speed limit, note the possition and speed limit, and send it to the web site.

Thanks both for the replies. I'll look out for those 'tba' sites.
