I would suggest that when setting up your TomTom, (assuming the bluetooth pairing is already set up outside of TomTom) is that you do not select "Other Bluetooth GPS receiver" and select "Other NMEA GPS Receiver", then select the "GPS Baud Rate" then you will get a list of serial ports and select "Bluetooth Serial Port....". There is a slight issue here in that there are two lines displayed apparently saying the same "Bluetooth Serial Port...." as the last words saying which COM port are off the edge of the screen but as soon as you select it, you can see the whole line. For me it is the top line, ....Com8. If you do not get the Bluetooth Serial Port..." option, the issue is outside of TomTom.

By using "Other NMEA" rather than "Other Bluetooth", TomTom does not interfere with the bluetooth settings or device (it would turn mine off when it exited) and automatically connects to the serial port which then connects to the bluetooth device. That worked fine for me on TT5 and TT6 with an HP5500 and various bluetooth devices. It also allows me to have different bluetooth GPS devices that work at different baud rates, it just selects the last GPS paired device I used.
