I`d been thinking about that. Is there any storage in the card? maybe just for opera or mozilla? It wouldnt leave much space for progs if not. Maybe a better idea would be to connect via usb. |

No, this is a rock bottom SDIO WLAN card - not one with storage as well.
I wanted to test if it works as a device - but no joy so far.
There is some on board storage in flash that might be useable for a browser if the wifi card worked.
I would expect that you can't use a usb device either for wi-fi as the
usb port is a client usb port, not a host usb port.

(the 11b SDIO card)
but although the install drops the files onto the box,
the utility program won't run.
I used executability check on it, and it was looking for
mfcce300.dll
I dropped a version in, but it says it can't open it.
so no luck so far

does this use up your sd card slot then?, meaning you cant use an sd card at the same time? |

Yes,
Although there are more expensive cards out there that have both
WiFi and storage on one.
I don't know if this box even supports SDIO, which is "an extra"
to a normal SD slot, but WiFi would be a nice addition.

phonic wrote: | How about using the AyToBe as a GPS receiver on your LapTop?
The software you need is all Freeware and listed below:
1) GPS2Blue 1.7
http://users.skynet.be/hofinger/GPS2Blue.html
2) .NET Compact Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=AEA55F2F-07B5-4A8C-8A44-B4E1B196D5C0&displaylang=en
4) Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 (only tested on this version)
5) HW VSP
http://www.hw-group.com/products/hw_vsp/index_en.html#download
Install Active Sync on Laptop (if not already using it)
Install .NET 2.0, but does not start via ActiveSync, you need to copy the .cab over and install that way.
Install Gps2Blue on AyToBe.
Settings: IP should be 192.168.55.101, remote: 192.168.55.100.
tick TCP/IP. GPS is on COM6 at 9600. Click "On" to start.
Install HW VPS on Laptop. Settings: Select(settings tab): HW VP work as the TCP Server only.
Unselected(settings tab): Don't create VSP Port if Ping to
remote device failed.
in VSP tab: IP: 192.168.55.101(your IP) Port: 31873
Port name: COM5 or any free port name. Server Port: 31873.
Theses settings work both on my Laptop and Desktop pc, running Windows XP SP2.
Make sure you always install software to MMC_Storage. Good idea to make a folder called Program Files. |
cool, I got netstumbler (on my laptop) working with this setup. |

Does anyone know how to get rid of the low battery warning that fills the screen? I don`t see any "OK" or "Quit" buttons and the only way I`ve found so far is to hard reset. |

GPS Speed Sentry - version 1.31 works best. |
Phonic
Have you tried the latest version of GPS Speed Sentry? As of version 1.5 speed camera POI's are supported.
Have a look on my website; http://www.tchartdev.com
I know that the program does run on CE devices with some quirks (dialog sizes etc). If you have time could you PM me with a list of issues so I can make it work a bit better?
Regards
Trevor Hart |
I have used retromax's file to get the window CE desktop. (nice WIN CE wallpaper).
http://rapidshare.com/files/29056635/a2b.zip
Then I have installed GPS Speed Sentry 1.5...
The problem I have is which coms port and baud rate do I set for GPS Speed Sentry to pick up the GPS signal....I tried some but the program hangs up. I have to do a hard reset (via switch at the back).
I have solved my own problem
set it on coms6
untick auto connect
tick SIRF chipset
untick enable DTR
save these setting.
Now to try the camera warnings. |

Fixed my own problem too - or at least it fixed itself once the battery was charged up again. |

GPS baud Rate 9600
Serial Cable on SP2:
also you can have both atobe and tomtom on the same card, but need to change the autorun program on the flash_storage (via active sync) to:-
navigation = \MMC_Storage\TomTom Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe
to use aytobe change back to
navigation = \MMC_Storage\MobileNavigator\MobileNavigator.exe.
Just need to know now how to change the autorun program to choose between the two - anyone any clues?? |

Hi,
Great info so far, but
Has anyone tried to load GPSMap by Shanks on to the AytoBe. I have managed to get the software running but I’m unable to change the setting on the GPS Serial feed, hence no comms with the GPS. When you go in to setting the screen goes gray and you have to switch the Device off on the back to reset it.
Thanks
Joe |

The easiest way now would be to use the restore function on active sync with the backup file i posted yesterday. |
Yip Thanks for that but, the proble I have is that there is no Backup/restore in Active sync or windows mobile device center in vista.
Do you now of any other wahy of geting your back up onto the device. |

The Windows Mobile Device Center enables you to set up new partnerships, synchronize content and manage music, pictures and video with Windows Mobile powered devices (Windows Mobile 2003 or later).
