Compact Flash Style Receivers

Can I basically buy a compact flash receiver plug it in and run Tomtom and it will work and I need nothing else on a Ipaq????

If this is the case will any of them, even imports work with Ipaqs or is there something I should be checking ie. chipsets that only work with Ipaq etc?

Not all of the CF receivers will work out of the box. The better ones are exposing a serial port to the PDA that can then be selected by the application (TomTom GPS in your case). The older ones and the weird ones require separate drivers (for example the Navman 1000). Try to avoid those.

As for chipsets - since the CF is draining the PDA power you should go for a low power SiRF II chipset, and set it to trickle mode.
