Hi, just got a Nokia E50 and tomtom 6 mobile, now I need a decent bluetooth GPS reciever. I have been told ot get a SIRFIII by a friend but looking on ebay there seems to be a new range of 42 ch TTFF recievers such as this one

eBay Link

any thoughts on whats best to get, this will live in my car and so as long as it has a car charger and ideally a USB charger then i will b ehappy

cheers

I've no idea who makes that GPS but the 42 Channel stuff is just marketing BS. They do not say what GPS Chipset it uses so I would avoid it.

Good models are GlobalSat, Holux, ZyCast, Leadtek to name a few. The key factor is SiRFStarIII Chipset. There are other good ones appearing such as MTK and GlobalLocate but SirFStarIII is still the best known and works well.

RFMD are a major cellphone chipset supplier but they also have some minor GPS involvement. www.rfmd.com

General opinion is they are not great with low sensitivity, issues with performance in pedestrian mode etc.
