POIEdit - Can't install...

Hi

I'm trying to set up POI Edit so I can sync, but on downloading and running the exe file, I get an error message:

Could not initialize installation. File size expected=1231755, size returned=514634

Is anyone else getting this issue?

Do you have a download manager installed like Download Accelerator ? If so, disable it and re-download to a different directory and you should be okay. This can happen with downloads if a download manager is downloading from multiple sites and one of the sites has a corrupted download.

No, no download manager - have tried right click and open, and right click, save as and then open - both times I get the same error....

Terry, are you downloading from the main POIEdit page at http://www.dnote.nl/pda/poi/PoiEdit/ ?

I've just tried clicking the download v2.6 link below the big PC screenshot http://www.dnote.nl/pda/poi/PoiEdit/files/PoiEdit_v26.exe and this has downloaded and I can install this without a problem.

If it's not downloading, create another directory and try downloading into this. It maybe that you have a partially downloaded version that isn't overwriting.

Which Operating System are you running ?

thanks - i've sorted this now. Thumbs Up

looks like there was a half downloaded copy hanging around in my temp internet files. Clearing the temp directory allowed me to download the full file - for some reason the installer had kicked in with only 500k or so of the program downloaded...

anyway all is well - many thanks for your help.
