Hi,
I was thinking about getting a geko 201 as a first time unit, I know you can get Lat/Long , but can you get OS grid reference so I can use it with my Explorer maps?
Thanks for any advice..
Cheers Chris.

Hi, I haven't got a Geko, But I have an e-trak, and they look identical. If you look at the link, there is a write-up on one, with some screen shots, one of the screenshots is the options screen, and you can clearly see the British Grid option. If you get stuck with it, post again, and we will try and help.

Memory Map is great on the PC for viewing maps, planning walks etc. To export data from the MM application to the Geko will require a data cable, and you can only export way points, not the map data.

If you want to use the device with MM software whilst out walking you will need a PDA, then use the Geko as a basic GPS receiver in conjunction with the PDA and MM software.

The other important aspect of going out waking is to carry a printed map and compass (also make sure you know how to use it correctly) - GPS can let you down, device fail, battery etc, always at the worst time when not expecting it - the MM software is a great way to print maps with your route drawn on (as well as any other useful information).
