On Saturday, I installed the new pgpsw database CSV files (Instead of the new DS files on their site) but used the loaders as required by Drivesmart here, as you can see from my post above, it didn't pick up a single camera.
This morning i have installed it differently as proposed by Wayne's version here, I will go out later and see if there is a difference. _________________ TomTom Go 60

Your mistake is as follows ( I think ) You used the private loader program.
This does 3 things
Uploads the CSV file to the DS, and generates 2 HEX files the 2nd one been named _crypt
You then took the HEX file and loaded this using the standard loader program in to the DS. There was no need for this step as the CSV file was already loaded into the unit .
One of the HEX files that is generated does not work!?!
When loading the PGPS database you have 2 options .
These are to operate with or without the DS database in place which determines which program you would use. The first guide I have done is when you wish to use the PGPS database along side the DS one.
I am going to make a 2nd gide that is for only running the PGPS database.
If I could offer more time I would generate the HEX file each month and this would remove ALL issues.
Your mistake is as follows ( I think ) You used the private loader program.
You're right i did but this is how i read it on the DS site :x
This morning i followed your instructions and loaded ONLY the csv file and i have now got camera warnings - however, the unit has gone "potty" everytime a warning appears it tells me "speed too fast....speed too fast" through out the entire warning duration, whatever my speed, at one time i was down to 5mph.
Please give me a hint to how I can change it, before I beat it up with a baseball bat. _________________ TomTom Go 60

I have now used the new database for two days, although I haven't gone long distance, i have Gatso's, Safety van's and Truvelo's all being called Gatso's, is this correct?
I understand the database is still in its early days but not sure where it was left. The database wasn't working when i was travelling at the weekend, but am i right in thinking that spec's are also called Gatso's?
Also red light camera's and blackspots can these be extracted from the Drivesmart database if not already available?
Last of all i'm confused as to why my Nuvi which has the same pgpsw database, has a lot more warnings on temp cameras, I thought the DS database had the same (adapted) camera positions on.
I am using the temp's option on both database's. _________________ TomTom Go 60

for camera types: gatso = 1, truvelo = 12. by 'camera van' do you mean mobile site? if so then this is type 9. i would have presumed that the codes used by the ds would give a different warning for the camera types? other wise its pointless having the types at all!

specs without start or end points are set as gatsos, those with known start/end points (see the readme file in the download) are marked as specs according to the camera type list published by DS. however, if you are using the DSpocketgps_uk_pmobile.csv file you will need to download it again as i forgot to include the start/end points in the script that makes the file...

again, redlight is marked by camera type 10 according to DS's list. we don't do blackspots in our database so these are not present.

by temps do you mean mobile locations? if so then there was an issue with the _pmobile file that i didn't pick up on straight away.
IMPORTANT - i have changed the files for the DS as i noticed errors with the formatting in particular in the pmobile file but also for the specs in the other file; please redownload the files!
MaFt the DS database is built wrong here are a few examples which is why it alerts as Gatso for all locations.
-1,12273;53,69866;40;10;2;312 IS meant to be a red light camera it should read like this though
-1,12273;53,69866;0;;10;312
After the speed limit you should have an identifier for MPH or KMPH but you have put 10 which is gatso. Also looking at red light cameras for the DS they should not have a speed limit set.
Here is another example
-1,32971;53,70623;40;9;1; this is meant to be a 40mph mobile site but alerts as gatso

Hello MaFt et al,
I recently put some questions of my own to the DS team and I thought it might add a little to the discussions if I were to post their reply here:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,
I thought it would be easy to work it out?
The HEX file can only be generated if you upload the CSV file into the Drivesmart, as the DS does all the encryption with our algorithm.
It does generate 2 hex files and you can use either.
To generate a master database, i.e a main Hex file, you need to use the DS loader program (Private version) we released, as it's a special version, specifically for doing the database encryption work.
Also, from what I know, the Pocket gps database will cause massive issues, since it's non directional for camera alerts. This means you will get alerts, etc, for cameras/Alerts on the other side of the road.
Also, if the angles are not entered correctly for SPECS, it will also give wrong and incorrect alerts and switch on/off for cameras that are on the other side of the road, for example.
A start and stop point must be entered for SPECS locations. You can use, for example, a SPECS camera that is in line, for a stop point; and also use it as a start point as well; so it keeps alerting in the SPECS area if, for example, its over 1km.
Also the CSV file must run in order and any incorrect inputs will not allow you to upload or make a master database .hex file.
I think that covers just about everything.
Regards,
DriveSmart Team.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have installed the latest database as as 4pm today and on the way home all the safety van positions still came up as Gatso's. 8O _________________ TomTom Go 60

we have LOTS of direction data - there's just not very units that use it - hence it's hardly present in any of the downloads. so far only yhe Mio's and DS can use it. haven't they figured out we're making a DS compatible version of our database?!

this is the main thing we're struggling on - could do with knowing exactly how the specs part works. wlmoate mentioned that the last one needs to have it's heading/direction reversed?

to expand on this: it needs to be in ascending order of longitude!
damn.. gonna have to leave it until monday now - might get a bit of time tomorrow but can't promise anything yet...
i'm certain that we'll get it sussed though!
Well, it looks as if you like a challenge MaFt:!:
Keep up the good work 8) _________________ TomTom Go 60

What is the Mio's ?
Is this another speed detector, what do you know about it?
If it holds similar info as the DS, I presume it must be a "specialist" unit.

I doubt it, from what i can make out from others familar with DS staff, that Neil seems to be the only normal one, the others seem to be "boffins" who don't live in the same world as us.
I'm sure others will comment here!
Info for the database - went past a Truvelo this morning that is also still called a Gatso _________________ TomTom Go 60
