|
|
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a Bluetooth GPS which either comes with the Static Navigation feature switched off, or has some means of turning it off. I have noticed some reference to utilities which allow you to 'tweak' the SIRF settings but I am unsure if these work on all units.
I have just purchased a Qstarz 818 which works great in the car but not while on foot. It seems the MTK chip has a similar facility to Static Navigation but it cannot be turned off.
Greatful for any assistance before I spend some more cash only to find it wont do what I want either.
Regards,
Bob |

Look for a true SiRF-III GPS receiver - avoid the low power consumption devices though as these don't appear to work with the normal method for turning SN on and Off.
The Holux GPSlim 236 is fine for doing this, I often switch the SN On/ Off with no problems on this device - Mike |

I can confirm what mikealder says - you can switch SN off on the Holux GR236 (and probably any SiRF-III chipset device) using a program called "SiRF Tech". There is also a utility called "M-M SiRF Setup" from Memory Map which allows you to switch it on/off.
You can get a GR236 from Nav4all for about £50 or 70 Euros
