|
|
I've recently bought a Garmin Nuvi 660, and have been making use of the already pre-installed Cyclops Safety Camera DB (free for 3 months).
My impression from various searches through this web site and others is that the PGPSW DB is as up-to-date and as comprehensive as the Cyclops one, with regard to the number and location of cameras. Being half the price, it seems sensible to go with PGPSW when my 3 months is up.
But one question :- The pre-installed Cyclops DB gives very user-friendly and definitive messages on what is coming up. If I subscribe to the PGPSW DB, can I expect the same level of detail ? |

I have the same question -- I have a Nuvi and like the cyclops database, but am not sure it is as good a deal as the pgpsw one. Also, do you have to uninstall this before switching over to the pgpsw database? Any help appreciated. |

You will have to uninstall the pre-installed database before using ours. As I don't have a Garmin I can't say how the warnings compare though I think they should be the same regardless of whose database you use. Someone will be along who can confirm that I'm sure
It's great to have that feedback though, we try hard but it's always nice to have an independent comparison _________________ Darren Griffin |

i've not heard the cyclops/garmin warnings so can't compare. the standard proximity warnings for garmins are bongs. an initial bong to alert you of the camera along with a red bar at the top saying the speed alert and camera icon on screen, then if you exceed the limit you get repeated bongs.
as for 'removing' the cyclops database, the easiest way is to just disable it in proximity alerts.
