Hi all
New to TOM TOM etc and was out yesterday on the M62.
My Road Angel picked up a Gatso - no warning on TOM TOM with the PocketGPS Speed Camera Database.
Could someone tell me how I add it and then inform you guys how of it to add to master list?
Thanks
Ben |

You need to have CheckPOInt loaded on your PPC, this provides the proximity warnings when you approach a camera site that is in our database. It can also be configured to capture new locations using one of the hardware buttons.
When so configured, if you find a camera that is not in our database, hit the hardware button as you pass it, CheckPOInt then asks what the camera type is and gives you a selction of types to choose from and then asks what the speed limit is for that stretch of road.
This newly captured data is stored in the CheckPOInt.ov2 file within the map folder. Send this file to us and we will add the new cameras to our database for the next release _________________ Darren Griffin |

If you know exactly where it is located, switch to map view, find the location, and tap and hold the screen, you can then enter it as a CheckPOInt POI. This won't add the speed and camera type data but you could email us with this information along with the CheckPOInt.ov2 file. _________________ Darren Griffin |

After the POI has been added to the POI file, I believe you can sunbsequently change the properties of the addition in the Checkpoint application itself, so the speed and camera type can be amended. |

Hi All,
Unfortunately I don't have the correct hardware you require for the addition of a new gatso but I do have an old Garmin GPS handheld which gave me the exact lat/lon for them both and i'd like to contribute to your impressive database of cameras but I wasn't quite sure who to mail so hope you don't mind if I just post the info here (don't mind if you want to delete it) The camera is situated in a 30mph limit (I was caught doing a 'reckless' 37!!) on cippenham lane in Slough. co-ords:
51.51163 N
0.62041 W
and
51.51201 N
0.62111 W
Hope this is enough info for you to add them and hope to see them in your next update. Superb Website, keep up the good work!
Best Regards
Dave |

I can add a speed camera using TomTom 2 and CheckPoint but it does not display a camera Icon when re-traveling past this point. Is this correct or am I missing something. If I view my added cameras and click the show button, the location is displayed on the map but without a camera .bmp ?? |

Assuming that you're not using CheckPOInt 3 and synchronising to POIplace (which changes things rather), captured POIs go into CheckPOInt.ov2.
I have created a red version of the .bmp file used for the Pocket GPS database (you need to change the colour depth first), and I've set up warnings to work on CheckPOInt.ov2 as well as the Pocket GPS POI file.
CheckPOInt 2.0.2 (available from the downloads area of this site) is recommended rather then CheckPOInt 3 if you want to submit cameras. Even if you enter camera type details in CheckPOInt 3, they don't make their way into the CheckPOInt.ov2 file. It is certainly a help if you press the buttons for type of camera and speed limit - hopefully the PocketGPS database will eventually be released broken down into speed categories. To that end, capturing these details for existing cameras is, I believe, worthwhile.
To submit to the database, email a copy of CheckPOInt.ov2 to cameras@pocketgpsworld.com
