I bought a navman icn750 from tesco and find the maps over 2 years out of date and navman want to charge £99 for an update, does anyone have a cheaper solution?

Would you be better off posting in the navman forum? This is for the speed camera database...

I've moved it to the correct place now. How much did you pay for your iCN750? If it was more than about £250, take it back and get a refund, then buy an N60i in its place. The N60i is newer and already has the new maps on it.

Goddam, can someone not put up a fixed post somewhere that explains why maps are out of date??? If you buy any sat nav device, the maps will already be out of date. It's that simple. They are not updated in real-time and they cost money. Use a paper map if you're unhappy with it, becuase NO SAT NAV will meet your expectations otherwise!!

We do have such an article but it's too big to be a post. It can be found here.

It still amazes me then how so many people still bit*h about map errors and having to pay for updates. :x Is there a way of summarizing that article into a digestible post and putting it somewhere that people will read it?

You have to accept that maps will be out of date.
One thing I think could improve things is if maps could be updated in sections. I would be happy to may a monthly fee which meant I would get map updates as they were released.
With the UK being split into regions they could break the maps down into chunks?
Instead of having to provide the maps on DVD they could be downloadable items Smile
