ADVICE - Navman iCN 500 Memory / Memory cards HELP PLEASE

After 6 months of trying to load the Navman Smartset software, downloading the camera files etc ....I'm NEARLY there!
But.... My Sat Nav says I have 2.2 GB of memory available out of the total of 3.8GB, yet when I try to download/save the file to my sat nav it says I only have 1kb of memory available & I need another 529kb.
Anybody advise please? Would you advise I buy a 2GB card from handtec, and would my 550 accept this? Ta. Jonty
