WHAT IS THE LATEST TOMTOM 6 YOU CAN BUY?

Hi all
I am new to posting to this site but i have been a long time reader.

I have just purchased a copy of TT6 and paid £94.90 in total and having installed it I am dismayed to find that the App version is 6.010 (7720)
and the map version 652.1024
Are these the versions that are current? I understand that the latest app version is 6.02 and the latest maps are 660.
I have seen a pda with V660 running (poss copy) and the whole of my estate where i live is visible with named roads these are not on my map.
so it is definatly an older map
I have emailed my supplier (GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEMS) and I am awaiting an answer from them. I telephoned them this morning and an operator told me that I can up date maps for free is that true?

I am woried that I have been sold an old copy of software in fact when I instaled Tomtom today I informed me that there was a newer version of that program do you want to install it.

Well, i am not sure you can up date maps for free. There is usually a charge for it when new releases are made available.

Anyway app wise, - I think that ver6.020 is the latest PPC version but you should be able to get the app version updated for free via TomTom home and subsequent updates with in the TTN6 family will be free. There is a 6.030 but from reading these forums that was for specific devices only, although you I think there are ways of getting it onto your device if you so wish.

The 660 map is the Western Europe Map, whereas I think the 652 is the country specific map. Did you purchase WE or GB version of TomTom?

I have the Navigator 6 software and maps of Western Europe on DVD
but I have only installed GB map

Latest TT is V6.01.

There is a 6.03 for certain PDAs - but it works (unsupported) on many more.

6.02 never saw the light of day (except on some illegal download sites).

Application upgrades are free - so you can get 6.03 if you want. Map upgrades aren't (usually) - but you could try approaching TomTom support and see if they are prepared to do a deal.

Where did you but it from? You should take it back and say it doesn't have the latest version of maps on it - the V660 maps have been around since the beginning of the year. I didn't have your previous version of maps - but you may find out that there isn't any difference in any case. the V660 release was to harmonise maps versions on TomTom V5 and V6

V562 Maps are the Plus Maps that are currently the latest. V660 is a different compilation of the same Map Data.

I bought my software from (Globalpositioningsystems.co.uk) I have tried to contact them today by online support (ignored) and by direct email (no reply yet)

The map that I have seen is V660.1256 and is the full western europe one it is definately better ie more up to date than the one supplied it has more of my home estate roads shown that V652 The estate was started 6 years ago and is just being finnished version 660 shows all the roads with names but not street numbers
ver652 shows only the first 30% built the rest are missing. Also I pass an area called Dalton in Rotherham where I live This was an old terrace row area demolished 6 years or so ago and rebuilt the Vv52 still shows the previous road system but v660 is correct with the new road layout

So there is definately a difference the 660 map is much more recent!

I will register with Tomtom support tonight and ask the the same questions
and I will post any new info
