Geomarking - Recording to excell GPS points and adding notes

I have 20 visor palm units and 20 wagons with gps units on them. I use minorplanet software for the tracking of the wagons at the moment but now i have a new challenge.

I need to be able to send the operatives out to a particular road to clean gullies and come back with the gully position (GPS) and to add notes to the position.

The information needs to be downloaded to the base station then on to the excel format so that our client can upload it to their program (Map Explore) this will then show various assets that the client have including gullies, gas lines, telephone cables and sewer lines.

I was informed of a geo marking system by mapopolis whereby the operative can stand on a particular street and note this information down at over 200 location in 1 round then return to base and download it. I have had no joy as yet on researching this and therefore am looking for alternatives. Please can you confirm the accesibility of this typs of software/bundle and how it can assist us.

we have a dedicated Mapopolis forum where you may want to re-post your question (the Mapopolis folks are reading there as well). There is also other software that does a live base-to-driver communication (for example CoPilot) but that runs only on PocketPCs.
