maps from TT advantages

Hi all,

just a quickie, Maps from amazon seem to be really cheap on DVD £35 however on SD they are expensive as is the Download from TT. I wondered what the advantage is of the download over the SD and the bought maps ? are they all seamless, are the DVD's up to date ??

For that price I reckon they must be the old, individual country maps (v5.???), not the latest seamless one that TT is flogging for 120€.

If they don't quote a version number to check, a clue would be if they describe them as "maps", but I wouldn't take that as definitive "proof" one way or the other.

Advantage of one "seamless" map is you can set a route from door to door across Europe. With the individual maps you have to switch maps at the borders, or alternatively, as each map will have major roads of the other countries included, many people used to load up the destination country's map and use the major roads of the UK to get them to the ferry port.

Advantage of "Individual" maps is you can have 100 POI categories for EACH country. Seamless map only gives you 100 for the whole of Europe - soon used up if you have speed cameras for several countries.

Also you can use a smaller SD card and only load the countries you need.

Also, if I understand correctly, the SD cards are pre-activated, so you don't have the hassle if you change devices.
