Have you not looked at any of the hundereds of posts on this subject? (Go SEARCH "TMC" to find the topics.

To sum up:
1. it was totally crap
2. they have tweaked the software
3. now its just crap

I don't think I'm being unfair... if anyone is truly happy with it, I take it all back, but most are very disappointed.

It's got to be better than their subscription traffic service, surely? The subscription service does the following for you:
    * Reports phantom traffic jams
    * Doesn't report real traffic jams
    * Reroutes you around phantom traffic jams into real traffic jams

4. If you are willing to void the warranty, you can modify the antenna, apparently greatly improving reception! As Andy says, use the Search.

The company iTIS holdings supply the traffic data to TomTom and the same data is used for the RDS service, so the quality will be as good (or bad depending upon your view) - the subscription GPRS service gives you full country coverage where as the RDS-TMC gives you regional information, however the regional area covers a few hundred miles, so as you move up/ down/ across the country the transmitter changes and so does the information (not a problem at normal UK road speeds to be honest).
For aerial modifications - yes they do work BUT if you want to send the device back once modified forget it, the surgery required renders any warranty invalid (why an external aerial connection point was never included in the base design is well beyond me - other TMC units have this connection which is a basic necessity for reliable reception in the UK) - Mike
