Ford Focus with heated front window.
Poor reception, but very useable when positioning the GPS to the far right or left where there's no heating.

Landrover Discovery
Navman 3400 With SmartST
Poor sat reception due to all windows being near vertical!
Adding a re-radiating now makes it usable but the antenna needs to go outside on the roof...

For anyone with Current (E39) 5 series BMW I am advised that coated screens were not an option until 2002.
"Solar coated windscreens have only been added to the options list for the E39 in the UK in the last year or so. I'm involved in automotive glazing and am pretty certain that nothing was available prior to this time unless someone has upgraded yours at replacement. Solar coated screens have a slight blue or purple reflective look to them when viewed from outside."

Hi,
Honda Prelude '97.
iPaq 3850 with TDK Bluetooth Sleeve and Socket BT GPS on the Dash or a little change holder in the drivers door.
No problems regularly fixes on 6-9 birds.

Works fine for me with a good signal in both a Lexus IS200 and 2003 Mercedes E Class. |

I've got a 2003 Renault Clio. The specs says it doen't have a tinted or heat reflective wind shield, which is options on the Laguna. It does have a "Sound insulating windshield".
I am very keen to get a GPS handheld system, but want to make sure I get OK reception. Does anyone have experience with a renault Clio and GPS systems? Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers.

Porsche Boxster - Radio aerial in windscreen
No problems with this, probably due to the fact that it has a canvas roof! Ideal for GPS. My install has the external Pretec antenna clipped to the top of a rollhoop. I get a signal 99.9% of the time.
Also have it fitted in a Golf, sits in the cupholder and I get 3-4 satellites regularly. _________________ Why me?

I can get a signal on the dash of a Laguna, but it's a hell of a lot better on the parcel shelf. The windshields don't block all the signal. Just some of it. A Navman doesn't work in my Laguna but an Emtac works ok on the dash. Depends on your kit as well. |
