I've just purchased a Voxson Voxtrack GPS 300 Personal Navigator, and at $A398 it's AWESOME value. Nothing's perfect, and I was wondering if anybody could help me with two voice related problems.
1. There is a voice prompt "Continue driving around the round about". Its length is really annoying, specially as it's repeated 3 times. Can I truncate it to "round about" ?
2. I have 4 predefined types of favorites "My Favorites", "Combinedcams", "Redlightcams" and "Speedcams". All favorites give me the same voice alert "Favorites Alert" and visual signal of the same. Can I have different voice (and text) alerts for the different types of favourites?
Hardware is ARM V4 running WinCE 4.2. Maps are Whereis R13 (Australia). Preferred voice is female english (UK). |

Assuming that your device has a USB connection that will actually ley you access the memory on the device or a Flash memory card you can remove and insert into a PC then you can, indeed, shorten this annoying message.
I did this some time ago. Destinator V6 is not as bad as earlier versions but it is still annoying.
There is a directory with all the sound files in (sorry what it is called and I do not have Destinator loaded at the moment). I think it is something sensible like "Voices" which would be sensible.
Simply find the file (I think it is called Roundabout) but I can't remember what the extension is (could be WAV, SPX or OGG) and copy it to your PC. You can then edit it using a sound editor (there are several good freeware / shareware ones) to trim the excess words off and then put the file back. Worked a treat for me!
What you can also do is change the structure of the sentences if you want. There is a file "destinatorvoicemaneouvres" (or something very similar). This contains the method the sentences are put together so the can have the distance before the words etc. It is very useful for some of the more illogical ones (mainly roundabouts). |

Thanks. Yes I have a USB port so I can make the changes as you suggest. I thought this was the way to do it, but I didn't want to break my navigator without checking.
Can anybody direct me to the Destinator sound files that will hopefully contain the phases I need for speed cameras? |
