|
|
I have both v8 and v9 of City Navigator NT Europe - the mapsource software allows the creation and customisation of routes on one's PC - very useful. They even can be uploaded to the Nuvi - but can I find them on the Nuvi itself? Can I be b*****ed!
Can someone please advise me if I am wasting my time creating custom routes or am I missing something?
In grateful anticipation,
Chris |

This feature is not supported and you are not really supposed to use MS with the Nuvi, only POI loader. You can wreck the unit if you upload the routes to the Nuvi |

Eldar - I don't understand - the Mapsource software was supplied with the unit on the v8 DVD and auto installs when the DVD is inserted. |

Indeed it was supplied with the unit, but only for the purposes of getting additional map segments loaded onto the Nuvi.
The Nuvi does not support importing routes from MapSource. MapSource will have converted the custom route into a set of waypoints, which will have been loaded into MapSource, but the route linking those waypoints together won't have been loaded, and hence will not appear.
MapSource actually puts all the necessary data into the import file, it's simply the Nuvi does not know how to process the information, so throws it away. |

Thanks for that Swing.
Why, I wonder, doesn't the documentation that comes with the device explain that?!
Do you know what devices do support prearranged routes? |

I wouldn't want to try to provide a definitive list of devices, but I can tell you very few of the newer SatNav units support it (I think the Zumo does though). |
