In some instances, it might be better to rely on the address rather than the postcode alone - I've had instaces where the postcode has been recognised but did NOT match the desired address.

This problem can be caused by databases not being updated because online map searches can result in the same error.

I think that this is a Royal Mail problem though because they insist on changing existing postcodes rather than simply allocating a new postcode to new properties/developments - hence existing postcode databases point to an incorrect destination and/or the new postcodes are not recognised.
