Hi! We see you’re using an ad-blocker. We’re fine with that and won’t stop you visiting the site.
But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!
Bother, that'll teach me to dive straight in without reading up first (RTFM). Can I apologise for posting some corrections and new POI's with spaces in the telephone number. Hope it isn't too difficult to remove them during the verification process. I probably haven't followed some of the labelling rules 100% fully either. Suffice to say, all subsequent changes should now fall into line.
Some businesses only list 0845 numbers which I believe can't be dialled internationally. What should we do in those instances?

Since my latest holiday in France, I have been busy inputting numerous locations of Kyriad Hotels in my Tom Tom, including phone numbers. I obviously now have an ov2 file and have created an associated bitmap. How can I upload these to your site for others to use, as the submission page only lets you input one at a time, and only for previously known hotels, which Kyriad isn't listed in. _________________ Tommo...

Email the File to pois(at)pocketgpsworld.com and Richard (Oldie) will sort it out. _________________ Richard

i.e. if it was an EXISTING Maplins then it would already have an I.D. number, and you'd use it to say "Maplins at anytown (I.D. 27) should be at Latitude xxx and Longitude yyy" etc.

Hi,
I've read the sticky on how to format POI's, especially phone numbers and that's really helpful, however, I would really like it if the Sat Nav could pick up the number and dial it. (Nuvi 660).
Yes, I could manually enter it but the Nuvi can do this with it's original entries so I was wondering if I could do it too - as yet though I cannot get it to work.
Has anyone got the answer please? Would much appreciate any assistance.
Thanks in advance.

Phone numbers can be communicated to Nuvi satnavs using a specially formatted GPX file. We do not release the POI database in GPX format.

The first post in this thread has been edited to update paragraphs 1: and 2: and to add paragraph 7:. The changes in 1: and 2: are shown in bold.
1. The contents of the Title box.
Enter the Town/City/District in which the POI is located or near followed by a name/additional text. Separate the the two items with a comma. For example, a pub and an historic house
Farnham, Star & Garter Basingstoke, The Vyne
Another example, a Sainsbury's store on a retail park
Farnham, Water Lane
For some POI it may not be appropriate to use both a town/city/district and a name/additional text but you should provide one of them. As the Subcategory name is used for the POI file name there is no need to include it in the Title box.
2. The contents of the Details box.
Optionally, enter a more detailed street address using commas between the elements of the address. This box can also be used for information on opening hours etc.
The text in the Details box is output in a separate field named Details in Garmin CSV files so do not make it too long. The text in the Details box is no longer appended to the Title text for TomTom OV2 files because if it is too long it can corrupt the telephone number when the OV2 file is used.
7. Dining Pub Subcategory
The Dining Pub subcategory is special as it has been created from the lists on the Dining Pubs website, see http://www.diningpubs.co.uk
As this is a special category of pubs, ie not just ones that serve food as well as drinks, new entries will only be added to it if you also submit the webpage reference from the Dining Pubs list. Corrections to positions will of course be accepted but please identify the car park access in keeping with the present style.
The Dining Pubs website states "Please mention diningpubs.co.uk when you visit one of the pubs, inns or hotels in our guide and use our voting system to ensure that information on the site is as up to date as possible". So please help keep their list up-to-date after you visit a pub. _________________ Various TomToms, Garmin eTrex Legend, GPSMAP 60CSx, Oregon 550t, Forerunner 405
I've just submitted a swathe of new and updated POI's based on local knowledge, but hadn't stumbled across this forum beforehand. I apologise if any are not quite of the expected format but at least I will know for next time!
How long does it normally take before the changes are "confirmed" and will appear in the download? I note on the submission map they show up as dimmed - do I take it that once they are fully solid that they will be downloadable?
