Gamin 2620 hard disk space

Hi,
I have a Garmin 2620 with a hard disk of 512Mb preloaded with City Navigator Map. I am a new GPS user and I have some doubts regarding the space in the HD. I read the manual but I could not find answers for my questions.

a) how can I check the remaining space available in the HD , considering that the City Navigator Map is preloaded ?

b) when I transfer data from PC to GPS, obviously the space in the HD is being reduced... but when I transfer the data from the GPS to PC , this data is removed completely from the GPS´s hard disk or it remains on the hard disk and the data is only " copied" to the PC ??

c) how can I check what data is loaded on the GPS´s hard disk ?

d) is it possible to replace the HD of 512 Mb with a HD with more space , like 1 Gb ?? if yes, I guess that the new HD must be formated and preloaded with a map ....is this possible or available in stores ?
