GPS won't lock on

I have a GPS device (Holox 321) which was working great. But now, it can see loads of satellites but will not lock onto anything. I have left it connected for over an hour stationary with my Ipaq connected to it but although it can see the satellites and I can see that the signal is good, it never ever gets a lock.

So, do I throw it away or is there any s/w I can get which can interrogate and/or reset it to try and fix this?

Actually, I haven't tried removing the battery - would that help?

OK - I removed the battery, waited 30 seconds and replaced it. It locked on to 5 satellites within 10 seconds.

So, the classic Microsoft reboot works....
