Tomtom One V2 and Splash screen

I've followed the instructions from the forums for changing the splash screen (rename the original splash.bmp and name the new splash screen as splash.bmp) but all that happens is that I end up with no splash screen. As soon as I put the original splash bmp back its OK again.

Can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong

I only know x00, x10 & ONE v1 so unless another member posts before you're sorted, I'll do my best.

Are you sure your file is the correct size, name, extension & orientation?

Check the name of the original file.
splash.bmp? splashw.bmp?

Sometimes using Windows, the extension for common files is hidden. Ensure that if the original only shows 'splash' in your file list, then your file should not be called 'splash.bmp' ( as it would actually be called 'splash.bmp.bmp', if you see where I'm going with this )

Check the properties of the original file -
dimensions 320x240 (rotated 90 degrees)? 480x272 (no rotation)?
