Converting pushpin (Autoroute) to ov2

Hi,

On TomTom's site there is reference to a package called pushpinov2 - but the link ends up at the safty camera page here.

A google search drew a blank, so I wondered if anyone knew of the package so I can create an ov2 database via autoroute.

Thanks guys - I have got my psp file from AR 2003, started the conversion proggy, but all it does is site there saying 'Reading from... /file/name.psp'

The file is only 1kb, so not sure why it isn't working.

Back to the drawing board. Crying or Very sad

Ian_W,

The program will just sit until you tell it where to save the output. Click the Save button or use Save As under File.

If you have already tried that, then send the .psp file to me and I will have a look at it for you.

PS As you are exporting from AR 2003 there are likely to be some spurious offsets applied to the converted points. I have not been able to find out the cause, but the finger points at Microsoft Sad

Do you know of anyway to combine ov2 files - reason being the points I need over a wider area of the UK, than I can export from AR - so wondered if there was any way that I can get all the various points in one ov2 file?

BTW - the points are pretty accurate for the 2 or 3 I have looked at.

I have written a program POIManager that you can use to merge TTN POI overlays. When updating a master file it will check the proximity of the POI in the update file and let you skip any duplicates. The program is in the "POI Icons and Converters" section under Downloads.

I am near to finishing an Embedded Visual C version of the program which will run on the Pocket PC. The eVB program which is also available in the Downloads area is slow and can cause problems if you are using a Pocket PC 2003 PDA.

I apologise of this has been covered before, but I have scoured the forum without success.

I tried your POIConverter with Pocket Streets pushpins. The utility is very easy to use, thanks very much. I'm having real problems using the pushpins with TomTom 3, though.

About 30 of the 60 or so addresses I visited in Liverpool last week were many streets away from their correct location in TomTom, but they were dead right in Pocket Streets itself.

Is there a solution to this, and will it make any difference when I install my TT5 upgrade, please?

I expect that you know already, but I tried POIEdit, on my LIVERPOOL.ASC file from Autoroute, and the results were no better.

In other words, neither using another application nor eliminating the production of a Pocket Streets pushpins file made any difference.

Sorry, just to make the situation absolutely clear: I am using Autoroute and Pocket Streets 2005 versions.

If you have the information as pushpins in AutoRoute then use POIConverter to read the data from the map file (*.axe). There is a Microsoft "feature" that was introduced after AutoRoute 2001 that introduced variable offsets when extracting data using Pocket Streets files (*.psp). Make sure that you close AutoRoute before running POIConverter.

That did the trick.

Thank you very much for your help and for your POIConverter. It gives me with what I have needed for a long time: seamless browsing of a map of my addresses and navigation to them.

Could you please tell me how to pay for the utility, as I can’t see anything about this on your web site.
