We have them free here also.

Afraid there's no CD though. _________________ Richard

The OP is a bit mis-leading. You can download a few sets (~12) for free but for the full 230 sets you need to pay to download or get them on CD.
PGPSW offers all POIs for free.
PGPSW also offers free information on setting up the Proximity Alerts too.
Also moved to a more appropriate forum. |

Is this supposed to be funny Are you really recommending a site that charges for a CD with instructions on how to install our safety cams and voice alerts? Info that is free here?
I give up. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Well yours poi's are free yes but your speedcam subscription is £19. On the site i gave poi's and speedcams only cost £6.and like you said it is the same stuff so why would people want to pay you £13 more ! when they can get it for £6, and it is on cd Also there are quite a few people in the forum asking for advice on how to install poi's and speedcams as well
Or is this forum not here to help and advise on the best options |

What are you talking about? TomTom Free don't offer camera data, even your first post said that it was a CD with a guide to install OUR data!
From their website:
Quote: | SPEED CAMERA DATABASE
We also receive a lot of queries about speed camera POI database from our users. We have decided to avoid this particular area because its already well covered within the market and most new units come with it as standard. |
If people want help then they'll get it here, why would they want to buy a CD from that site to get install guides that we have here as well as a forum full of people happy to answer!
If you're suggesting otherwise and that TomTomFree are offering safety camera data then I'd be delighted to know. _________________ Darren Griffin

I don't recall anybody say that it's the same. Are you saying that the PGPSW free POIs are the same as the ones that that site charges for? That's strange as PGPSW was offering free POIs for a long time before that site started. Are you saying that that site has copied the PGPSW POIs and is now selling the free PGPSW POIs for profit?
Are you also saying that that sites speed camera database is the same as the PGPSW camera database? I hope it's not a copy! The PGPSW one is constantly updated and verified by a group of highly experienced verifiers.

Actually when you click on the pay now buttons
Download = £6.50 and CD = £7.50

Depends on if that information is accurate, which in your case it isn't. |

our £19 gives you updates for a year, realistically that'll be 20-24 updates for (less than £1 per update) is the £6 a one off? if so then it's 6 times more expensive than ours... hardly good value... also, does tomtomfree offer free updates for life for helpng out with the database?

I can't even see an actual camera database on that CD. Don't they just mention instructions to install an unspecified one? |

They actually say that they don't have a speed camera database and suggest using the one from this site or a free one from DirkSoft, whose website says it was last updated on 16 March 2006!
TomTomFree says:
"We also receive a lot of queries about speed camera POI database from our users. We have decided to avoid this particular area because its already well covered within the market and most new units come with it as standard. If you don't have it already then we would suggest that you look at either of these places; http://www.pocketgpsworld.com , and there's a free speed camera database - though less comprehensive from http://www.dirksoft.com." _________________ Anita
